Type Slowly

What the hell man?!?!
Car Accident sunday night
Failure to find a job
Failure to keep a girlfriend
Failure to keep a friend (related to the previous statement)
Mounting bills
I still live with my parents

What is this recent graduate to do? Not even the usual music drown out will seem to help this time. Gone are the days where the smiths, low and oh yea bright eyes would help me ease my sorrow. I guess this is the first time I am actually feeling really down. ugh. Well at least I am glad that it co-insides with the FML phenomenon. People can totally relate with me using only three letters.
well at least i have on victory

metal heart are you worth the ticket?

Oh God! Chan Marshall could you cure me of my LA venue blues!?! You’re probably worth the hefty ticketmaster investment. (Ticket price + facility charge + convenience charge + order processing charge + mailing = ticketmaster blues) Well since I have had a school boy crush on her since forever it would be worth the venture. Since I managed to score the ticket for free; I now owe someone a non-sexual favor, I was able to afford the twenty dollar parking and the eight dollar beer. (A pleasure that’s usually to rich for my post grad life).
Never mind that her last album was another covers album, or that she hides away of to aside of the stage, or that there was no spotlight on her. I was still gushing all over. The best part of her covers is how much they don’t sound like the originals. Her set started out with a cover of the land of the rising sun followed by Fleetwood Mac cover of Dreams. The band really wanted to rock out to the songs and at times left Cat Power behind. It wasn’t till late in the set that the band and Cat Power found each other’s tempo and just in time for my favorite, metal heart. (Sorry everyone who was standing around me I really wanted to record it)

endless summer

Artist: Fennesz
Album: Endless Summer
Genre: Folk Electronic
Endless Summer is an older release by Fennesz, I am pretty sure there is a more recent release. I love this album pretty much cause I feel that its one of the best electronic albums ive ever heard. I also think its the most accessible considering the genre. Its amazing how organic tracks like Endless summer feels, the electronic part doesn't get in the way of song writing.

Indie 103.1's real revolution

Now that indie 103.1 is confined to the discounted Internet radio bin, will anyone listen? I’m sure that people will hit the site out of curiosity (including me) only to remember that we have better songs on our iTunes. The only real reason why the indie experiment was interesting was because it was on commercial radio. Driving without our ipod radio adapters or with an uncharged ipod wasn’t so unbearable. This was a station that would play X or pixies, or maybe play the new animal collective or Morrissey. (Something that kroq would never do)
So what happened? Did indie 103.1 lose out to Kroq or did corporate radio claim another victim in its path to world domination? (blab blab blad liberal slant) Well, do you remember that indie 103.1 use to be a dance station? Well I bet you didn’t know that the company that owns indie is called Entravision Communications Corporation and that indie is the only English speaking station that they own. They are a Santa Monica based Corporation that mostly caters to Spanish speaking audiences. The corporation had been experiencing financial problems for some time and sometime in December where told that their stock prices have fallen below their minimum trading price. Now they have till sometime in June to increase their stock vales. What probably happened is that marketing decided that they should focus on their core market and thus why indie is R.I.P in the broadcast world.
But to tell you the truth the station had started to become unbearable. I would much rather listen to Kroq and Power 106 while driving than indie. I don’t know what that says about my music taste but whatever I don’t care.

That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore

"Words prematurely sad, Oh but I know what will make you smile tonight"

http://www.uncut.co.uk/news/the_smiths/news/12350

The thought of the smiths reuniting at coachella sends instant chills down my spine and makes me smile. I think how great it would be to make the trip out to indio with my friends. the ones who stayed with me late after the parties to dance to smiths while drinking beers, the ones who payed that buck to listen to this charming man at the local dive bar, with the friends who sang along with me to smiths karaoke.
But then the thoughts of a smiths reunion quickly turn sour. NO! the smiths have this quality of unattainability that would be forever lost if such a reunion where to occur. The odds of a smiths reunion is in reality not very likely. Though it seems that Morrissey and Marr have moved beyond their conflict of interest that ended the band in 1987, there is still much hatred with the rest of the band. Morrissey and Marr were sued by drummer Joyce in 1997, over songwriting royalties and won. Morrissey and Marr probably resent the fact that they moved on into their own solo careers, while the rest of the band try to live off the past.
No, the smiths will probably never reunite and you should be ok with that

It was the best and worst decision at the same time!

What is Oki Dog? It is a shack, run by some dudes that look like characters from a John Steinbeck novel. Somehow smoking while playing arcade games is totally ok. And never quite sure if they are going to take your order.
Last night after my radio show a few of us from the station went down to Oki Dog located on Fairfax and Willoughby. I had their world famous oki dog, two hot dogs in chilly and pastrami wrapped with cheese and in side a tortilla. While watching the grease drip from my oki dog, we got to catch a WWF match on tv (i cant believe the undertaker is till around).
Prices are really cheap, but i guess the cost are hidden elsewhere.

Fred sixty poo

Last night we made it out to the Los Feliz area to make out to a house party. As usual these parties turn out to be pretty lame, so we decided to hit up the Redwood Bar and Grill on 2nd street downtown. Surprised by the 5 dollar cover charge we decided to go to one of my favorite places, Bar 107. It doesn't take much for a bar to make me happy, this one accomplishes the task by selling tall cans and playing pretty awesome music about 80% of the time.
Then we ended up at Fred 62's
Now why we always seem to end up there surprises me. We are usually a large party and finding seating usually takes longer than 20 minutes. The food is pretty alright but probably not worth the wait. I think really the main reason is just the crowd and location. Last night we saw darryl from the office. That was pretty great for me since the Office is the only T.V. show that I follow.
